What a deep clean gets you
As clean as the shower is going to get, and for a lot of homes that ends the conversation happily.
Soap film, body oil and light to moderate mineral come off. On a shower that has only ever met household cleaners, the change is substantial.
What cleaning cannot reach is grout stained through, uneven from line to line, or worn down over the years. Nothing brings that back. Color sealing replaces it with a uniform color, and that is the difference between a shower that is clean and one that looks new. We will tell you plainly which yours needs.

Hard water, and what we refuse to do about it
Chandler water leaves calcium, and in a shower it bonds into the grout and onto the tile face over years of daily use.
Light and moderate deposit comes off with the right chemistry and enough dwell time. Heavy buildup that has had a decade to bond does not fully come off. Not for us and not for anybody, unless they are prepared to damage the shower doing it.
Which is the part worth being explicit about. We do not use harsh acids and we do not take blades or aggressive abrasives to tile. Both produce fast, visible results. Both leave etched tile and eaten grout behind, and that damage is permanent and worse than the deposit ever was.
If somebody promises your ten-year-old shower will look new, ask what they are using. The honest answer is usually acid.
Buildup also affects sealing directly. Sealer will not bond well over mineral still sitting in the grout, so a shower with heavy calcium is a poor candidate for color seal, and we raise that before you commit rather than after it fails.
Shower color sealing carries no guarantee
This is the most important thing on the page and we say it to every customer before booking.
Most shower color seals last years. Some fail early. A few fail within a day.
The cause is nearly always something that was already inside the wall before we arrived:
- Moisture wicking up from behind the tile, which prevents the sealer ever bonding properly
- Old sealer or soap film left in the grout, blocking adhesion
- Grout already breaking down, which will not hold any coating
- Cracked or failing tile letting water back in behind the seal
None of that can be seen from the surface, which is precisely why no honest company can promise you a shower.
The one variable you control is cure time, and you get exact written instructions before we leave. Follow them and the odds are as good as they get.
So shower color sealing is sold without a guarantee. A few hundred dollars against several thousand to retile is a bet most people want to take. We simply want it taken with open eyes.

How a shower job actually runs
- Send a photo by text. You get a rough range back, free, before anybody drives anywhere.
- We come and look. Photos only go so far and shower variation is genuinely enormous.
- Deep clean first, always. It is the only way to know what the grout will actually look like and we will not seal over soil.
- Colors, if you want the seal. Gone through against your tile rather than off a card in the truck.
- A 25% deposit once you pick, which orders the material for your job and comes off the total.
- Written cure instructions before we go, because that part is down to you and it matters.
When we will talk you out of it
It happens regularly and these are the situations.
Heavy calcium still in the grout. The sealer has nothing clean to bond to, so the odds drop sharply.
Crumbling or missing grout. Repair first, and occasionally the honest answer is that the shower wants retiling rather than sealing. More on repair.
Visible tile cracks or movement. Water is already getting behind, and a surface coating does not change that.
A shower that cleaned up beautifully. If the grout looks uniform after the deep clean, you are done, and saying so costs us the bigger job.
Questions
How are showers priced?
In person. Send a photo by text and we will give you a rough range free, but the quote happens after we have seen it because shower variation is enormous.
Will cleaning fix my shower?
It will get it as clean as it will get, and for many homes that is enough. Grout that is stained through, uneven in color or worn down is past what cleaning reaches, and color sealing is what addresses that.
Is shower color sealing guaranteed?
No, and every customer is told that before booking. Some fail early and a few fail within a day, almost always because of something already inside the wall.
What causes a shower seal to fail?
Moisture wicking up from behind the tile, old sealer or soap film blocking adhesion, grout that is already breaking down, or cracked tile letting water in behind. None of it is visible from the surface.
Then why would I do it?
Because sealing runs a few hundred dollars against several thousand to retile, and most people would rather take the chance knowing the odds. We just want you to know them first.
What about the hard water?
Light and moderate deposits come off. Heavy calcium that has bonded over years does not fully come off, and we will not chase it with acid or a blade because both leave permanent damage behind.
